Leading a creative team...
Above all, a stage manager is a strong leader, coordinating the work of directors, designers, technicians, and performers. Stage managers are masters at organizing, creatively solving problems, and building productive relationships.
I am a stage manager specializing in opera and dance management and also working on large-scale, special theatrical events. I have worked on over seventy full length opera productions for companies across the United States, many of which have been collaborations with international opera producers. I am currently the Production Stage Manager for the Opera Company of Philadelphia, where my responsibilities include production planning for future seasons and supervising staging staff members, in addition to typical stage management duties. Previous work has included staff stage management positions for San Diego Opera and San Francisco Opera, among others.
Having studied ballet for over twenty years, I bring a comprehensive understanding of dance rehearsal and performance processes and needs to my work as a dance stage manager. Dance stage management credits have included productions with Ballet Pacifica, Marin Ballet, and most recently, Philadelphia’s Ballet X.
In the realm of special events, I have helped to supervise large-scale, multi-media corporate events, gala entertainment presentations ranging from an original cirque-style show to a pop/rock musical concert to a Broadway revue, outdoor opera concerts, and touring murder mystery dinner theater. I am adept at working simultaneously with diverse talent, stage designers and technicians, clients, and event attendees to ensure that events exceed expectations!
